Pre-Conference POPI Act Workshop
The Protection of Personal Information Act requires all public and private bodies to process personal information in accordance with the conditions for the lawful processing of personal information. This pre-conference POPI Act workshop will assist delegates establish a cost effective POPIA programme to efficiently and effectively address the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act.
A practical approach is presented that follows the specific requirements of the Act. The course is based on a combination of practical experience from twenty years of advising on the processing of personal information lawfully and from the insight gained through actively participating in the Parliamentary discussions that resulted in the Protection of Personal Information Act.
The workshop will cover the governance, risk identification, planning, design, implementation, operation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the lawful processing of personal information. Common mistakes in understanding the legislation will be discussed together with an action plan to properly address the compliance requirements in the shortest possible time.
At the end of the course:
- attendees will have an understanding of the impact of the Protection of Personal Information Act on their business operations
- attendees will know about the risks, the vulnerabilities and the need for organisational and technical measures that will enable the processing of personal information to be lawful
- attendees will be able to plan and execute their organisations POPI programme.
